May 2

It has already been a busy and exciting week... and it is only Tuesday!

Yesterday we were lucky enough to welcome Steve Harmer to our school. Steve Harmer is a motivational speaker for children that uses magic as a way to engage students and enforce concepts.  We focussed on being "Brilliant and Resilient" through the 7Cs: connection, confidence, competence, contribution, coping, character, and control.  Although these are big words for our students, we know that through intentional teaching, practice, and reinforcement, students will start to understand these words and apply them to their own life.  He brought many fun things with him such as magic cards, a unicycle and even a rabbit!

We also had some time over the last two days to start to build our Heating/Cooling Devices. Thank you to everyone who send supplies in for us to use! We put them to good use.  We used our plans to help bring our device to life through a simple prototype.  We applied our design thinking skills to this project by identifying a problem, ideating solutions, and prototyping.  We will test our designs tomorrow and adjust our prototypes as needed.  Stay tuned for updates on these!
